The Uncomfortable Cup: Tetley x BCNA Life-Saving Campaign

💗 The Uncomfortable Cup – A Conversation That Could Save a Life

The Uncomfortable Cup is a powerful campaign by Tetley Tea and Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) that encourages Australians to start life-saving conversations about breast cancer. ☕💬

This October, Tetley Tea and Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) have joined forces to launch The Uncomfortable Cup, a bold campaign encouraging Australians to talk openly about breast cancer — the conversations that feel hard but could save a life. 🌸💞

🎀 Breast Cancer in Australia: The Reality

Every day, 58 Australians hear the words: “You have breast cancer.”
Over 21,000 new cases are expected in 2025, making it the most commonly diagnosed cancer among Australian women. Tragically, 9 lives are lost daily. 💔

Despite these numbers, many important conversations still aren’t happening. 😶

💥 Enter: The Uncomfortable Cup

A movement turning a simple tea break into life-saving discussions. ☕❤️

Through this campaign, Tetley and BCNA encourage Australians to talk about:

  • 🩺 How to check for breast changes

  • 📅 When to screen

  • 🫶 Where to find support

Because talking — even when uncomfortable — is essential.

🎗️ Drink Pink. Talk Real. Raise Hope.

To support Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Tetley has released a limited-edition pink Tetley Tea Cup 100s pack.

For every pack sold, 5 cents goes directly to BCNA 💰➡️🎗️ supporting care, information, and community programs.

👋 Meet the Cups That Talk Back

Tetley created tactile, sensory mugs to mimic how some breast cancer symptoms might feel 👀🖐️.
These cups spark conversation and awareness on social media, encouraging Australians to share stories and take action.

A cup of tea can kickstart a convo that feels awkward but is absolutely essential. Whether it’s sharing your story, asking questions, or reminding someone to book a check-up — those small chats can lead to big changes.

👩‍⚕️ Real People. Real Stories. Real Strength.

🌟 Reshu’s Story – Melbourne, VIC

At just 33, and pregnant with her first child, Reshu found a lump.
“I was dreaming about motherhood… but instead, I was told I had aggressive triple-positive breast cancer. It was terrifying.”

The BCNA Pink Lady community helped her feel supported and seen.
“I hope this campaign reminds women: know your body, speak up early, and know you’re NEVER alone.”

🌟 Paula’s Story – Sydney, NSW

At 41, just recovering from breast surgery, Paula received a cancer diagnosis.
“In the waiting room, I locked eyes with a little boy – another patient. In that moment, we didn’t need words. I realised cancer doesn’t care about age, gender, or circumstance.”
“The Uncomfortable Cup reminds us: early detection matters. Talking about it matters. Silence is dangerous.”

🤝 From the Kitchen Table to Life-Changing Action

BCNA CEO, Kirsten Pilatti, emphasizes:
“The convos we avoid are the ones that can save lives. Just like Tetley brings people together with tea, BCNA brings Australians together with support, knowledge and courage.” 🧡
